Understanding Your Lead Fit Score (0–100): How Leads Are Scored

Your fit score measures how well a lead matches your persona across profile, activity, buying-process and company-fit factors. Here is exactly how to read it.

Every lead in SalesMind AI gets a fit score from 0 to 100 that measures one thing: how well this person matches the persona you defined. The score is calculated by AI against your persona criteria — so a sharp persona produces sharp scores, and a vague persona produces noisy ones.

What does the fit score measure?

The AI reads the lead's LinkedIn profile (headline, experience, skills, education, company) and evaluates it against your persona's criteria, factor by factor. Each factor gets its own assessment, and the overall score combines them.

Factor groupWhat it checksWhere you control it
Profile factorsJob title, industry, company size, location, educationPersona targeting details
Responsibility factorsWhat this person actually does day to dayPersona role description
Buying-process factorsWhether this person can influence or decide a purchasePersona buying-process details
Company product fitWhether the company plausibly needs your offeringPersona + campaign solution

💡 A factor showing "—" means your persona did not define a criterion for it. The AI cannot score what you did not specify — add the detail to the persona to activate that factor.

What is company fit, and why does it matter most?

Company fit asks a different question than person fit: even if the person matches perfectly, does their company need what you sell? A great-looking title at a company that cannot use your product is not a real opportunity. When company fit fails, the overall score is heavily reduced — person-level polish cannot compensate for a company that is not a buyer.

What does "Not A Fit" mean?

A lead is marked Not A Fit when there is not enough profile data to score it, when it matches an exclusion you defined, or when it clearly fails your persona criteria. This is a governed outcome, not an error: filtering out wrong-fit leads before any message is sent is exactly what protects your reply rates and your sender reputation.

How do I read a score?

ScoreMeaningWhat to do
80–100Strong persona matchPrioritize
55–79Good match with gapsReview the factor breakdown
36–54Weak matchCheck which factors failed
0–35Poor match or failed company fitUsually skip

Each scored lead includes a rationale and a per-factor breakdown, so you can see why the score is what it is instead of guessing.

Can I change how leads are scored?

Yes — scoring follows your persona, so editing the persona changes future scoring. Edits apply automatically to leads you have not contacted yet; no relaunch needed for scoring. See Setting Up Your Persona for the details that matter most, and Fit Score Troubleshooting when scores look wrong.
